This exchange passed between me and my friend Flora post-screening of "I'm Not There" at Film Forum. Everything reduces to Britney Spears now. She's the litmus by which we measure our cultural degradation.
I knew nothing about Bob Dylan walking into the movie. That would account for the tedium I experienced during this otherwise spellbinding film.
That night I started with wikipedia. I wadded through the article, mystified by Dylan's constant "existential metamorphosis."
It all left me nostalgic for a time before my time when people would go ballistic because their favorite artist changed his genre.
